Great Casino Deals Around the U.S. Casino Consumer by Steve Bourie
Las Vegas
The El Cortez in downtown Las Vegas has a great ongoing promotion where any jackpot winner of $100 or more on nickel machines, or $200 or more on all other denomination slot, video poker, and video keno machines receives a free dinner for two and 12 free nights in the hotel each year for three years.
The promotion is actually two separate promotions and the part relating to the free room nights is called the Four Seasons Players Pass. In this program qualifying winners are entitled to receive three complimentary room nights, four times per year (spring, summer, winter and fall) for three years and, best of all, the free nights can even be used on weekends. You will need to have your qualifying jackpot witnessed by a slot floorman (who will also arrange for a complimentary souvenir picture) and then you’re officially a member of the Four Seasons Player Pass program. This room offer is not valid for locals, so you will need to provide an out-of-town ID when you win. The meal part is called Dinners for Winners. Here winners receive a FREE dinner for two in Roberta’s Cafe at The El Cortez. Once again you will need to have your qualifying jackpot witnessed by a slot floorman, and you will also receive a free souvenir photo of you standing next to your lucky machine. Unlike the free room offer, however, this promotion is valid for both locals and out-of-towners.
While the El Cortez wouldn’t be on our list of the nicer properties in town, we have heard that the rooms are quite adequate and we know that they do have a great selection of both quarter and $1 full-pay video poker machines including: 9/6 Jacks or Better (4,700-coin royal on quarters); 10/7 Double Bonus; and 16/13 Deuces Deluxe.

Reno
The Boomtown Hotel & Casino in Verdi (four miles west of Reno) has an ongoing promotion where they will honor any complimentary offer from any other major hotel/casino in the U.S. To participate you just need to show them the letter, postcard, receipt, or any verification of a complimentary stay or dining offer and they will honor it. The casino’s blackjack games are all single-deck and they have some of the best rules you’ll find in any Reno casino. If you’re traveling with the family you’ll especially enjoy Boomtown because they have an indoor amusement park. Call 1-877-726-6686 for full details on the program.
Atlantic City
Harrah’s has two promotions exclusive to their Atlantic City location. The first is just for new slot club members who sign up for a Total Rewards Card. Then just play slots or other gaming machines for one hour and you’ll receive a free Treasure Hunt game piece worth $10 to $1,000. Every one is an instant winner! The other promotion is called VIP Friends, and is exclusively for Total Platinum and Total Diamond members. When you bring a friend to sign up for a new Total Rewards card, you’ll receive a cash reward based on your friend’s play during that first trip. For more details on these promotions call 1-(800)-2-HARRAH, or visit the Total Rewards Center.
The Sands, which now offers the highest-paying slots in the city, has started a new slot club for seniors. Senior Class members also receive special dining discounts. Call 1-800-AC-SANDS for more information.
