Group Plans for the Biggest Wheel on the Strip


A triumverate of Architect Veldon Simpson, Gregg Guiffria, President of Outland Development LLC, and Richard Hannigan, President of Synthetic Systems, Inc., a Las Vegas firm, recently announced plans to build the world's largest Ferris Wheel on land located at the south end of Las Vegas' famous strip. Topped only by the Statosphere Tower, the proposed 518 foot high Ferris Wheel would be even large then the newly built "London Eye," Ferris Wheel in England.

Dubbing his project "the eighth wonder of the world," Guiffria said there would be 35 air-conditioned observation cars attached to the wheel, each holding 16 people. The duration of the ride would be 24 minutes. If all goes as scheduled, the ride, called, "Voyager," would be completed in min 2002. Final plans for financing the project are still open.
